Does it become night, or is the night made?

How did Mexico City transform when the sun went down?

On September 13, a unique conversation was held at the Biblioteca Vasconcelos, in collaboration with the Mexican Society of Sociology, to explore the nocturnal life of Mexico City and its metropolitan area.

Guided by sociologists Yolanda Macías and Priscila Cedillo, the session delved into one of the most dynamic and emerging fields in sociology: the study of nighttime leisure. Participants reflected on how social, economic, and cultural interactions after dark shape the city’s identity.

From nightlife to nocturnal work, from collective experiences to urban atmospheres, this discussion invited attendees to understand the city beyond daylight.

It was a remarkable opportunity to rediscover the night from a sociological perspective.
